From Canada to Kerala: Meera & Zaid

Meera, a Malayali artist born and raised in Toronto, met Zaid, a half-Turkish, half-Hyderabadi writer, during a poetry retreat in Istanbul. Their love bloomed across continents — in handwritten letters, long-haul flights, and midnight video calls.

When they decided to get married, they wanted more than a celebration. They wanted a union of cultures, families, and stories — all set in a place that felt rooted, spiritual, and breathtaking.

They chose Kerala — Meera’s ancestral land — and entrusted Airion Solutions to make magic.

“We didn’t know how to blend our worlds without losing who we are. Airion made it seamless — like a beautiful fusion album of our lives.”

The theme: “Crossroads of Culture” — where tradition met travel, and love translated through rituals, poetry, cuisine, and community.

The breathtaking celebration included:

  • A welcome boat party in Alleppey, where guests sailed through backwaters at sunset, greeted with coconut water and Carnatic jazz.
  • A Sufi-meets-Bharatanatyam Mehndi, performed on a floating platform surrounded by lanterns and lotuses.
  • A traditional Malayali wedding ceremony, with Zaid arriving on an elephant (a nod to local tradition) and Meera in a handwoven white kasavu saree gifted by her grandmother.
  • Turkish-Hyderabadi wedding feast, with chefs flown in to prepare a menu that spanned baklava, biryani, and banana leaf thalis.
  • Handwritten wedding vows, translated into Malayalam, Urdu, and Turkish — gifted as keepsakes to all guests in scrolls.

Even with 150 international guests, visa coordination, fusion rituals, and mixed languages — Airion Solutions handled it all with calm precision and cultural sensitivity.

“The guests were in awe. My Turkish grandmother cried during the Malayalam blessing ceremony. It was perfect,” said Meera.
